Think Pink

Finally

finished my 3 year history of art degree, having handed in my last piece of work on Monday night.

Shop Talk

In my long-awaited Easter break from university, having finally completed my dissertation (woo!) I took a trip to the newly opened & Other Stories. It did not disappoint, despite being on the very last bit of my student loan I couldn't resist buying a couple of pieces...

Black mesh bra, £25
I've been looking for the right unpadded bra for ages, they're often so hard to find, but this one fits perfectly and is so nicely minimal

open back pink dress, £45
I got the last one, the tres chic shop assistant told me these dresses 'are like gold' and I can see why. The cut and length is very classic but the billowing sleeves and colour make it at the same time so modern. The only problem is that now I feel in desperate need of their D-shaped gold cuff to go with it, which brings us on to a whole other financial danger zone: & Other Stories' jewellery collection.

Metal Cuff, £19

What We Can Learn From: Reality Bites

The 90s have been affectionately termed "the age that style forgot" in some quarters, which to be honest is understandable. Though personally I think the 80s are a better fit for that title but both have ups and downs. Case in point: Reality Bites, a film I recently watched and loved mostly for its timely character study of graduates in the post-uni no man's land, which I'll be venturing into in a couple of months.

The film's sartorial choices are very much of its time (1994) which is a
mixed blessing but one that we can certainly learn from...

...classic tailored trousers can be both smart and sexy, but watch out for an unflattering cut on the hips...

...white and sky blue polka dots on a collared dress straddle the line between cute and nurse...

...oversized round sunglasses should definitely make a comeback...

...printless tea-dresses translate well from work to play...

...always wear a bra if you intend to storm out of the building...

...a clean face with a bold red lip and a flick of mascara is timeless...

...and finally, everyone should have a convertible for singing along the way it should be done.

Bright Things

I was doing my obligatory aspirational browse on net-a-porter and came across this amazing Marc Jacobs tote. I generally steer clear of yellow but I love this bright hue and the structure of the bag; its big without looking big as I know oversized is on the way out. If only...

shotshotshots

Just bought film for my new La Sardina camera, my amazing b-day present from my best friends. I'm excited to try it out tomorrow on a cultural excursion (classyyy) to the V&A and Dior exhibition at Harrods. The results to follow...
