What We Can Learn From: Reality Bites

The 90s have been affectionately termed "the age that style forgot" in some quarters, which to be honest is understandable. Though personally I think the 80s are a better fit for that title but both have ups and downs. Case in point: Reality Bites, a film I recently watched and loved mostly for its timely character study of graduates in the post-uni no man's land, which I'll be venturing into in a couple of months.

The film's sartorial choices are very much of its time (1994) which is a
mixed blessing but one that we can certainly learn from...

...classic tailored trousers can be both smart and sexy, but watch out for an unflattering cut on the hips...

...white and sky blue polka dots on a collared dress straddle the line between cute and nurse...

...oversized round sunglasses should definitely make a comeback...

...printless tea-dresses translate well from work to play...

...always wear a bra if you intend to storm out of the building...

...a clean face with a bold red lip and a flick of mascara is timeless...

...and finally, everyone should have a convertible for singing along the way it should be done.
